Top 5: Red Lipsticks

Top to Bottom: Mac Vegas Volt, 'In Love With Ginger', Mac
Lady Danger, Mac Russian Red, Rimmel 107
First things first, I apologise for how pale and miserable I look in these photos. I know you can only see my lips but I feel it shows my Wednesday Adams side. I promise I'm not Casper the Ghost either, I'm just not blessed with tanned skin (still dreaming...) I did a post on my blog a couple of weeks about my top 5 nude/pink lipsticks and I thought I'd carry on the little series again of my favourite products. So this week I've decided to do my favourite red lipstick. I do love a red lip and I feel like anyone can pull it off. Red lips are perfect for any season, I don't there's any problem with it...apart from getting it on your teeth and having the embarrassment of someone telling you it's on your teeth then you sit there for ages making funny mouth movements whilst trying to get it off. Yeah, that.

MAC Vegas Volt

When I first started getting into red lipstick, I didn't want something too bold and out there. I thought I'd play it safe, go with a red but not red lipstick if you know what I mean? No obviously you don't because my brain works completely different to everyone else's. I wanted something that wasn't too bright but something that I could start with so I bought MAC's Vegas Volt and I absolutely fell in love with it and still love it so much. The colour is more coral than red and it is the perfect summer shade which goes beautifully with a tan, I've taken it on holiday every year since I've bought it and will continue this tradition.

Rimmel Moisture Renew - 'In Love With Ginger'

This is more of an orange toned red which I think is one of the most amazing red shades going. I love this for summer too when I'm feeling a lot more bold. The moisture renew lipsticks from Rimmel are beautiful lipsticks, apply so creamy and last a long time. They leave a slight hint of gloss to the lips and are VERY pigmented. This looks better on me when I have a tan as I feel like it brings out my tan more, giving a more sunkissed look. These lipsticks are so affordable and I would highly recommend 'In Love With Ginger' (5 out of 5 for the name!!)

MAC Lady Danger

I bought MAC's Lady Danger last year because I had heard so many good reviews on this lipstick and I went through a stage of constantly wearing matte lipsticks. This, again, is an orange toned red and looks gorge with a tan however, as it is quite warm toned it can make your teeth looked slightly yellow. I love the matte finish of this lipstick, lasts all day without much wear. The colour is beautiful and doesn't look dry on the lips, perfect if you suffer from cracked lips.

MAC Russian Red

I LOVE this colour. I received MAC's Russian Red for Christmas and thought it was amazing and still do. It is also a matte lipstick meaning it lasts all day and when I say it lasts all day, it bloody well lasts all day. I couldn't believe how long this lipstick lasted and my mam was also shocked! It is a berry toned red, perfect for autumn/winter but I think you could wear it all year round and as it is quite a cool, blue-toned red, it makes your teeth look extra white.

Rimmel Kate Moss - 107

The famous Rimmel 107. Known for it's colour, cost and all round beautifulness. I wasn't keen on the berry toned lip colours, well, I say I wasn't keen, I mean I didn't think they'd suit me. But, I thought I'd give this one a try, after all Zoella raves about it and it's safe to say I know why. This is the perfect berry toned red and like Russian Red, it is PERFECT for winter. It lasts all day and finishes matte but does not look drying. I feel like this has more of a purple undertone rather than a red like Russian Red, making it very unique. If you don't have this in your collection I don't know where you've been hiding.

What's your favourite red lipstick?

Bourjois Cream Blushes...My Thoughts

Top to Bottom: 03 Rose Tender and 02 Healthy Glow
Hey guys!

Bourjois is one of those brands that I've never tried anything from. However, from reading fellow beauty blogs and watching videos, I noticed that Bourjois became a common name mentioned so I thought hey, let's take a look at this and find out why they've suddenly become a beauty blogosphere name. Lately, Bourjois have brought out their cream blush ranges which includes three colours range from a nude to a peachy orange. They retail at £5.99 and have been a huge hit with beauty addicts like myself. Of course, following the blogger hype I thought I'd treat myself one day and headed into Superdrug and bought two: 02 Healthy Glow and 03 Rose Tender.

02 Healthy Glow

Healthy Glow is a great summer blush. Although it looks quite orange in its packaging, it blends to become a more peachy kind of colour. I have relatively pale skin and for my skin tone, a more pinky toned blush is better for me and I didn't know whether this colour would really suit me. However, as I had started using this one in particular and I absolutely loved it! I use a Real Techniques buffing brush to blend it in to my cheeks and it is so pigmented and glowing that it gives a great summer look. Will definitely be wearing this on holiday as I think it would look great with a tan!

Rose Tender

Rose Tender is basically explained by its name. It is a pinky rose colour and goes with every skin tone. It gives a beautiful glow to the cheeks and goes with anything. Perfect for a natural everyday glow. It is very pigmented and is my current go-to blush. This suits me perfectly and is a perfect match with my Benefit High Beam highlighter. This one is definitely recommended, I love it so much that I've nearly hit the bottom. This is what happens when you fall in love with make up...

Have you tried any of the Bourjois cream blushes? Which one is your favourite? Let me know!

July Favourites.

Hello Everyone!

I love reading blogs and watching videos about other people's favourites for the month so I thought I'd join in the trend and share with you some of the things that I have been loving in the month of July. I can't believe how fast this year has gone and how come it's August already?! Say what?!

I've never actually done a favourites post before so I hope you enjoy reading what I have loved using over this past month:

Rimmel Apocalips - £5.99

Left to Right: 102 Nova, 500 Luna and 501 Stellar
Following the blogger hype, of course, I thought I'd try out some of the new lip lacquers by Rimmel. When I was in York a couple of months ago I bought the colour 102 NOVA which is a hot pink with purple undertones. At first, I have to admit, I wasn't too keen. This may sound weird, but I like a good smelling lip product. Yes, I know you're probably thinking why on earth I'm saying that but it's true. If you have tried a MAC lipstick, you'll know what I mean when I say that they smell slightly like vanilla. Well, the Rimmel Apocalips have this weird smell which put me off a bit. This month, I decided to spend some of my Boots Advantage card points on two colours: 500 LUNA and 501 STELLAR which are an orange/peach colour and a bright red/pink. Once I started using these colours I realised how amazing they are! They glide on like a lip gloss but are highly pigmented and long lasting like a lipstick. I especially like the colour LUNA, it's so summery and would look great with a tan!

Bourjois Cream Blush - £7.99

Left to Right: 02 Healthy Glow and 03 Rose Tender
Again, I did what I always do and followed the hype of these Bourjois Cream Blushes. I have the shades 02 HEALTHY GLOW and 03 ROSE TENDER. These are the first cream blushes I've ever tried and I'm very impressed. I usually apply them with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush on top of my everyday highlighter and they blend in really well. They are long lasting and quite light on the skin but well pigmented, if that makes any sense? I've been using ROSE TENDER quite a lot, even so that I've nearly hit pan. Oops! This colour is a gorgeous rose pink and HEALTHY GLOW is a peach/orange colour (which, in fact, goes very well with Rimmel Apocalips in LUNA, if anyone would like to know!). Great for summer!

Sinful Colours Nail Polish - £1.99

Left to Right: Tinkleberry and Pink Forever
This month, I have been painting my nails an array of colours. I also like a bit of a change and when I came across this new range in Boots, I thought I'd give them a go. I first saw these when I watched Gabriella from Velvetgh0st's beauty haul video and so when I took a trip to Boots one day a bought two: TIMBLEBERRY and PINK FOREVER

Dove Summer Glow - £2.49

I first saw this product being used when I saw that Anna from The Style Diet using it and talking about it in a few of her videos. It looked so natural on her but I never really considered buying it. It wasn't until my mam started using that I thought hmm, maybe I will have a go. Luckily, she had two bottles and offered me one of them. Well, a girl can't turn down a free beauty product can she? This product is basically a body lotion with a hint of self tanner which gradually gets browner after you apply it. I have the shade of fair to medium and this is the perfect tone for my skin. I applied it every morning after my shower for about a week or so and I noticed that my skin turned to a golden brown, without streaks or any oompa-loompa-ness!

L'Oreal New Studio Matt & Messy Shine-Free Sea Salt Spray - £3.69

I do love a good sea salt spray and lately, I've given away my trusty Lee Stafford spray and swapped for this baby. This product is much more cheaper than the Lee Stafford product and it still does a great job. If I'm honest, I think it is better! It doesn't leave any residue in your hair or makes it feel 'crispy' and obvious that it has any product in. This sea salt spray has a pleasant smell and a little goes a long way. I spray my hair when it's wet and then again after I blow dry it. It leaves a natural, tousled look, just like you've been on a Californian beach. *dreams about that beach, ahhhh*

Fashion - Shirts and Blouses

The fashion item that I have been loving lately are these Topshop blouses. I have this red with white polka dots blouse, which I bought first, and also a white with black hearts blouse (which I don't have a photo of because it's in the wash, sorry!) I think these blouses are really practical as they go with almost anything. You could wear them on their own with leggings or tucked into jeans or shorts. They smarten up an outfit and are really comfy and quite cool, I've noticed whenever I where them, they don't make me really hot as they have a light material. They retailed at about £38 (I think) and have been a favourite fashion item of mine this month. I'm already on the lookout for the next lot of blouses to add to my collection!

So there you have it, my July favourites! Let me know if you've tried any of these items in the comments below because I'd really love to hear your views!
